My Room, started 2016
Acrylic, mixed media

The mural in my room has been an ongoing project since 2016. The entire ceiling was covered within a week, but I still continue to paint and draw on it. The ceiling contains things that I feel are important, and is meant to provide me a sense of sanctuary and reassurance. Quotes, insomniac scribblings, timetables, lyrics and inside jokes have all found their way onto the ceiling so far.
The four figures represent my mum, dad, brother and sister. The figures swirl and point to the centre of the ceiling (my light fixture). Of course, these people are very important to me, and form a large part of my identity. There was something about having them play around the light fixture that seemed poetic and beautiful.
